Renewal Date: Every two years by the end of the month in which the license was initially issued
Hours required: 15 MCE hours
Salespersons MCE hours are comprised of: 9 elective hours and 6 hours in the following Mandatory topics (3 hour TREC Legal Update course and 3 hour TREC Ethics course). The TREC Ethics course also meets the NAR QUADRENNIAL requirement!
Please Note: Licensed Salespersons who applied on or after January 1, 2006 are required to have completed 270 core real estate (Salesperson Annual Education (SAE)) and related classroom hours by the end of the first year of licensure (210 hours of which were already completed before application for license). The CE Shop approved MCE courses do not meet the SAE requirement.
Please Note: There is a new 6-hour "Broker Responsibility" MCE course that will be required for renewals of sponsoring brokers, designated brokers of a business entity or delegated supervisors (for 6 months or more) for licensees renewing on or after September 1, 2012.
Licensees who are required to take the course will now take 3 hours of TREC Legal, 3 hours of TREC Ethics, 6 hours of Broker Responsibility, and 3 hours of elective MCE for each 2 year cycle. Licensees subject to the new requirement who renew on or after September 1, 2012, but have taken all required 15 hours of MCE before July 1, 2012 will not be required to take the broker responsibility course until the next renewal of their license.

Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) each business day. If it is after 12:00 pm CST, the TX MCE 9-8 Form(s) you faxed will be sent to TREC the following business day. Your account will be updated and your certificate of completion will be emailed to you once we have forwarded your form(s) to TREC. It may take on average 7-10 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours. Please be patient with this process and understand that it may vary depending on your state. Course completion(s) are reported on the designated and publicly posted scheduled days. Course completion(s) will be reported the following scheduled reporting day from the course completion date(s).
Max hours in 24 hr period: Per TREC: Effective 9/01/07, an MCE online course cannot be completed in less than 24 hours. This will seriously affect those licensees who wait until the last day of their renewal period to take and complete an MCE course to renew their license.
Expiration date of course: Courses expire one year after the order date.
Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.
Certificates: Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificates of completion will reflect this.
